Review Of Motorola C139

REVIEW:
Motorola is known to produce some fantastic handsets with great success as well. And sometimes the users want a cell phone that is just a phone with no fancy offerings, no music player and no camera and it’s just a handset for making calls. Now Motorola has come up with that kind of phone called the C139. Motorola’s C139 is a user friendly handset. The price of the handset is very low and it’s easily affordable for the users.

The design of the C139′s is functional and basic but it has a bit of style as well. The weight of the handset is more than we thought and it gives comfortable and solid feel in the hands. The basic black color schemes with rounded corners give it a great look and we liked it very much. It’s a compact and a portable handset.
The C139′s display is small at 1.25 inches diagonally and it supports 65,000 colors. The menu font may be a bit small for some users; the dialing font is rather large. You can change the contrast and the backlighting time. C139′s interface is simple and utilitarian. Beyond the simple animation, don’t expect any flashy graphics or a choice of menu styles. But on the other hand you can change the order of the menu choices.

Now come to its navigation array and there is a concern over its navigation array. Though he controls, which include a five-way toggle, the talk and end/power buttons and two soft keys are well sized and tactile for the C139′s small form factor, but an annoying quirk made them less intuitive. Still, we like that the toggle is raised above the surface of the phone and that it’s covered in a rubberized material. Only the two soft keys and each numeric button can be set as user-defined shortcuts while the up and down directions on the toggle open the phone book automatically. There’s no dedicated back button, but the right soft key serves that purpose when in a menu.

The backlight keypad buttons are easy to use; they are large and are covered in rubbery material and raised above the surface of the phone. There’s no volume rocker on the C139′s spine, you have to remove the phone from your face and change the volume via the navigation toggle. The only other features on the exterior of the C139 are a charger port on the bottom end and a headset jack on the left spine.

The C139 comes with a phone book that holds just 100 contacts. It’s pretty small if you’re popular, particularly since each entry holds just one phone number. The SIM card holds an additional 250 contacts, but we were hoping for more space since many people have multiple phone numbers. Some other basic features include speed dialing, text messaging, a stopwatch, a calendar with a day and week views, a vibrate mode, an alarm clock and a currency converter. The only thing we really missed was a speakerphone but its becoming common with other handsets as well. You can personalize the C139 with a small selection screensavers and wallpapers. There’s no wireless Web browser, so you can’t download any new options if you tire of what comes on the phone. Yet you can compose your own ring tones if you want more choices beyond the included 20 monophonic melodies.
