Review Of Motorola i570 (Nextel)

REVIEW:
Motorola has produced lots of Nextel phones with great success. Now they have come up with yet another Nextel phone Motorola i570. It’s a solid Nextel phone with good features. It only uses iDEN and it offers a durable design. The price of the handset is easily affordable for the users. Motorola i570 just focuses on being rugged and dependable. It’s not stylish and slim like the other Motorola handsets.

Motorola i570 (Nextel)

The i570′s blind eye toward the latest design fad is a nice change, to be honest, even if that makes us sound a bit old. Motorola i570 isn’t the most compact flip phone around and it’s a bit small as Nextel phone. So it fits in comfortably in a bag or pocket. Not surprisingly, the i570 is certified to military standards for vibration, shock and dust. Motorola i570′s edges are surrounded with a rubbery material but the front and rear faces are made of plastic. But what is surprising is that the i570 is the first phone we’ve seen in a while that has an extendable antenna.

The i570 offers an external display which is very small, but that’s what you expect from a Nextel phone. It shows the signal strength, caller ID, time, battery life and date. You can’t change any of its options. On the left spine there’s a volume rocker, a covered 2.5mm headset jack and the PTT button. On the back of the phone is the speakerphone. The charger port on the handset’s bottom end has a protective rubber flap. On the top of the i570 are a speakerphone button and a control for placing calls when the phone is closed.

i570′s main display isn’t particularly rich, but it’s effective and perfectly serviceable and it supports 64,000-colors. It has some options; you can alter the contrast, text size and the backlighting time. The i570′s navigation array is great. The round five-way toggle is quite large and tactile. You also can use the toggle as a shortcut to four user-defined functions. The rubberized keypad buttons also are very well-designed. They are clearly separate from each other and they are raised above the surface of the phone. The bright backlighting and large numbers on the keys made it easy to dial in dim lighting.

The 600-contact phone book has room in each entry for seven phone numbers, an IP address, a Direct Connect number, an e-mail address and a Talkgroup number. Some other essentials include text and multimedia messaging, a calendar, a notepad, call timers, a vibrate mode and call forwarding. The i570 doesn’t have Bluetooth. You’ll also find Group Connect, which lets you chat with up to 20 others via PTT at once, and Direct Talk. Motorola’s i570 supports Nextel’s second line service, which allows you to add a second line to the phone with a different phone number. You can personalize the i570 with variety of color palettes, alert sounds and wallpaper.
