Review Of Motorola Razr2 V9m (Alltel)

REVIEW:
Launch of the Motorola Razr2 has been the biggest cell phone news of the summer. We have reviewed two or three Razor 2 mobiles over the months and now we turn our attention to the V9m with Alltel. There are some features added to this handset as compare to its siblings. Alltel’s handset offers a slick, stylish design and a host of high-end multimedia features. Razr2, Alltel customized the handset’s external display and added its own features, like support for TeleNav GPS and its Celltop application. It’s not as action packed as its previous counterparts but for sure it will do well in the market and it’s a decent handset.

Motorola Razr2 V9m (Alltel)The slimmer shape of the V9m with cleaner lines, and oversize external display resulted in a much improved design that continues to dazzle. Its light in weight so its feels nice, comfortable and solid in the hands. Besides the steel body of the V9m, one of the biggest attractions on any Razr2 model is the large and bright external display. The display of the V9m supports 65,000-colors. It also show the time, date, photo caller ID, signal strength and battery life. The display also acts as a viewfinder for the camera lens, which is right above.

Next to the camera lens there’s a small light that grows green when you’re charging the phone. You can turn it off if you desire. Alltel had the freedom to customize the onscreen shortcuts for the missed calls list and the messaging menu, like the other carriers that offer the Razr2. You can make calls using the speakerphone without opening the phone as a result. Tactile feedback is also present in the side controls as well as on the onscreen buttons. On the right spine there’s a voice dialing control. Motorola smart key and volume rocker are on the left spine. MicroSD card slot is behind the battery cover. The internal display is beautiful while the keypad buttons and navigation controls are flat with the surface of the phone. There tactile feeling and large size makes them very easy to use.

Now come to its features. The phone book holds 1,000 contacts with room in each entry for three phone numbers, a nickname; Web addresses, e-mail and street addresses. You can save callers to groups, assign them a photo for caller ID, and pair them one of 33 polyphonic ringtones. Some other basic essentials include text and multimedia messaging, a voice recorder, a vibrate mode and an alarm clock. Higher end features include voice commands and dialing, support for the TeleNav GPS application, USB mass storage and full Bluetooth.

The camera of the V9m is very good and it takes pictures in four resolutions. Editing options include three quality settings, three color effects, a self-timer, a 5x zoom and five lighting modes. The camcorder takes clips with sound in two resolutions. The picture quality is comparable to other V9ms

On the other hand, the music player plays AAC, WMA, and MP3 files. The interface is pretty basic; you’re limited to a selection of visualizations, but album art is absent. You can choose options like shuffle and repeat and you can also organize your tunes by playlist. You can personalize Alltel’s Razr2 V9m with a variety of alert tones, wallpapers, skins and screensavers.
