Review Of Motorola Slvr L7e (Unlocked)
REVIEW:
When the Motorola Slvr L7 first debuted, we had high hopes for the candy bar version of the Motorola Razr. Even though it had a thin and sleek design, ultimately we were disappointed. It has only the VGA camera and I lack of EDGE support. But now Motorola has come up with its new Slvr L7e that will address some of our previous gripes. It has some improvements from its previous handset. The improvements are good that include EDGE support and 1.3 megapixel camera as well. If you like the form factor of the Slvr L7 but want higher-end features, the L7e could be a nice fit. The Slvr L7e even sports a blue hue and a new keypad design. The price of the L7e is reasonable and easily affordable for the users.

The one thing that we notice is that the design of the Motorola Slvr L7e is quite improved over that of the Slvr L7. While both phones are lightweight and skinny the Slvr L7e has a couple of aesthetic refinements that make it just a tad prettier. It has all the new keypad design. The keys are now arranged in curved rows as opposed to the previous offset arrangement, giving it a much more streamlined design. It’s quite solid and slips into the pocket very easily.
The display measures 1.8-inches diagonally, and is a beautiful screen that displays 262,000 colors with a 176×122-pixel resolution. You can adjust the display and keypad backlight time, the brightness, and the font size. The camera lens is located on the back of the phone along the top, but the phone does not have a flash or a self-portrait mirror. Voice command buttons and volume controls are on the left spine.
Underneath the screen is the aforementioned redesigned keypad. The keypad of the Slvr L7e a bit too crowded, resulting in us pressing more than one button accidentally a few times. The addition of the Back/Clear key is a nice touch, seeing as it was noticeably absent on the Slvr L7. There’s a four way toggle with two soft keys, a middle OK key, back/clear key, a dedicated Web browser key and the talk and end/power buttons.
Similar to its predecessor, though the Slvr L7e is very much a design-first phone, it offers a few notable improvements in terms of features. The Slvr L7e comes with a 1,000-entry address book, and each contact can accommodate up to five numbers, a site URL, a birthday, a postal address and two e-mail addresses. There are some other basic features that include instant messaging, e-mail, a vibrate mode, a datebook, an alarm clock, PC syncing, stereo Bluetooth support, , a wireless Web browser and text and multimedia messaging. The Slvr L7e also supports push-to-talk and push-to-view, but since those features are carrier-dependent we weren’t able to use them on our review unit.
It does have a built-in music player. The interface is pretty bare-bones, and you’ll have to control the music via the navigation toggle on the phone. The music formats supported are MP3, AAC, AAC+, and AAC+ Enhanced.
The Slvr L7e’s 1.3-megapixel camera is a marked improvement over the Slvr L7’s VGA shooter. There is an 8x digital zoom and you can take pictures with four resolutions. The picture quality is very good. As for the MPEG-4 video recorder, you can only record with two resolutions, three quality settings, two recording lengths and the ability to toggle the sound recording on or off. You can personalize the Slvr L7e with variety of ring tones, graphics, wallpaper and scareensaver.

MAIN POINT
The Motorola Slvr L7e is slim, sexy, and very lightweight. If offers good call quality, stereo Bluetooth, Quad-band EDGE support, and exceptional sound quality. But on the downside Slvr L7e has a flat hard-to-press keypad and a generic Motorola music player. So I give 3 stars out of 5 stars to it
